Let us step quietly over boundaries
we have created to divide us
the imaginary borders on our maps
lot lines plat lines zoning codes.
Let us choose to forget
the long litany of exclusion
nations states colors genders tribes species.
Let us say together in the one
language breath
All My Relations.
Thoughts on Step Close In: Poems From the Path
“Each (poem) evokes a deepening in the reader, drawing us into the center. These poems want to be read slowly, prayerfully, as one might walk the labyrinth. Each line, a step…a breath…a pause. Each line, a blessing…wind and wings, of longing and belonging…”
-Deborah Cooper, past Duluth Poet Laureate and author of Blue Window and Under the Influence of Lilacs
“Immersing yourself in these poems is like meandering along a labyrinth path, drawing you into the center with intriguing images crafted from a deep sense of knowing. The lyrical phrasing flows gracefully over your heart, and unexpected turns enlighten and enrich the journey. These are words of wisdom and wonder for the soul, delightful for individual and group reflection.”
-Lisa Gidlow Moriarity, artist and founder of Paths of Peace spiritual resources
