The Orchard Street Press is pleased to announce the release of

Quiet Diamonds 2020

In the Spring of 2020, in the midst of a global pandemic that essentially closed down the world of poetry readings and presentations, The Orchard Street Press conducted its third annual Poetry Contest. We were heartened by the amazing response we received, with submissions coming in from all across America. From the hundreds of poems sent in, we selected forty-two pieces for recognition: three for cash awards (including this year’s winner of the Malovrh-Fenlon Poetry Prize), seven other Finalists, twelve Semi-Finalists, and twenty Honorable Mentions.

These forty-two poems make up the book, our third Quiet Diamonds annual journal.

* * *

“Someone once said that a good poem moves, not from A to Z like a short story, but from A to A2. These poems are proof that good poetry begins in the real but soon begins to hover above the quotidian and rises to the spiritual zone that leaves the ordinary behind and below. Keep these by your bed with your other treasures, the quiet diamonds.”
-William Greenway, award-winning poet

“As the title suggests, these poems uncover the shining and the strange in the everyday and draw us into unpredictable encounters with what too often passes by, unattended  and unreckoned. Readers will discover fine writing from beginning to end, and will be reminded, as Bill Glose insists: ‘what a miracle it is / to be alive at all.’ This really is an impressive group of poets and poems.”
-Jeff Gundy, author of Without a Plea and Somewhere Near Defiance

Quiet Diamonds 2020  is available for $15.
