The Orchard Street Press is pleased to announce the release of The Alex Chronicles, Growing up in the 50’s and 60’sa collection of  short stories by John P. (Jack) Kristofco of  Highland Heights, Ohio.

These stories, written over the past twenty years, provide a vivid and captivating view of coming of age in a time of change in America. As award-winning novelist Paul Gaus writes about these stories: “There is magic here. If you lived those years, you’ll love the memories. If you didn’t, then here is the best way to learn….The memories suffuse every page. The memories are as true as they can be.”

“Reading this book is like sitting under an arbor on a pleasant September afternoon, picking a tasty grape and, with each bite, enjoying the grape juice of nostalgia…Kristofco has an unerring eye for the interesting family situation…and his ear is equally unerring; you won’t be able to help smacking your lips at much of his dialogue.”
-Ricardo Nirenberg: Editor, Offcourse literary journal.

“ Kristofco is a talented short story writer whose descriptive writing style captivates your attention and draws you in. This is a very impressive book, a real winner.”
-Bob Adamov: award-winning author of The Other Side of Hell, Tan Lines, and others.

“To capture an era like the 50’s and 60’s in America requires an author who was there—who lived it and felt it—and here Jack Kristofco has marked himself at the head of the class. His stories are written with a sure hand and a keen eye…they remember the age faultlessly, resonating with anyone who lived it and informing the rest of America what it was like…”
-Paul Gaus: award-winning author of  Blood of the Prodigal, Clouds Without Rain, and others.
